Andreas Makris (March 7, 1930 - February 3, 2005) was a Greek-American composer, born in Salonika, Greece, on March 7, 1930. Aegean Festival Overture transcribed by Major Albert Bader, USAF Band "The President's Own" United States Marine Band conducted by Colonel Michael J. Colburn He was a Composer-in-Residence for many years at the National Symphony Orchestra in Washington DC, working with conductors such as Mitchell, Rostropovich, Dorati and Leonard Slatkin. He composed around 100 compositions for orchestra, chamber ensembles or solo instruments, including the Aegean Festival Overture which became a popular piece with the US wind bands. Grants and awards he received include a National Endowment for the Arts grant and the ASCAP award.
